A brief overview of the nomenclature of Jura marble by JuraLimestone GmbH (quarries Petersbuch, Lohmannshof, Kaldorf, Eckertshofen).
It should be noted that the coloration of Jura marble varies depending on the layers from different quarries, but the ability to extract stone simultaneously from several quarries ensures the supply of large volumes of stone in a short time.
Jura Marble by Layering Structure
Below is a classic breakdown of the Jura marble's belonging by layers of deposition.
Jura Limestone Jura Beige
🔍Jura Yellow Marble.
Layer 1-9, 12-13, JuraLimestone Jura Beige of yellow color with numerous fossil inclusions, with a relatively distinct structure, is cut in slabs and used as a material only for floors and interior finishing.
Jura Limestone Jura Travertin
🔍Jura Cream.
Layer 10-11, JuraLimestone Jura Travertin main color light beige, striped is cut in layers, has a striped structure, (designation – Jurassic marble milky striped JUMA Rahmweis vein cut or Jurassic marble milky travertine JuraLimestone Jura Travertin), very smooth and uniform visual structure, also used for interiors and exteriors.
Jura Limestone Jura Cream
🔍Jura Cream.
Layer 14, 15, and 16, Jura Limestone Jura Cream has a main color of light beige/milky, is cut in layers, with a very smooth and uniform visual structure, and is also used for floors and facades.
Jura Limestone Jura Gold
🔍Jurassic marble golden-yellow JuraLimestone Jura Gold.
Starting from layers 18-25, the main color is dark beige with some walnut / golden-yellow, predominantly with sandy inclusions, it is cut in layers, the main tone can vary significantly, so a uniform structure is not always visible, it is used for facades and interiors.
Jura Limestone Jura Noce
🔍Jura Gold marble JuraLimestone Jura Noce.
Starting from layers 18-25, the main color is dark beige with some walnut / golden-yellow, predominantly with sandy inclusions, it is cut in layers, the main tone can vary significantly, so a uniform structure is not always visible, it is used for facades and interiors.
Jura Limestone Jura Blue
🔍Jura marble gray-blue JuraLimestone Jura Blue.
It can be found predominantly in all layers up to 10 and 11, the pure gray-blue color is usually found in layers from the 1st to the 6th layer, but its use is only possible indoors since lower layers often contain pyrite inclusions, which lead to corrosion and the formation of water-soluble compounds that manifest over time as streaks on the facade.
Jura Limestone Jura Blue
🔍Jura beige marble JuraLimestone Jura Melange.
For facades, only the upper layers should be used, starting from 20 where it can be found either mixed with the beige layer (Jura Limestone Jura Melange) or in a pure gray-blue color (Jura Limestone Jura Blue). Such stone is rare, which is why it has a higher price.
