Gerling Quartier/Gereonshof

About the project
Right in the center of Cologne, just a few minutes' walk from the Cathedral, is the multifunctional complex Gerling Quartier, which with its residential apartments, offices, shops, and restaurants has become a focal point in the city center. When changing the concept of the former Gerling concert hall, it was necessary to preserve the historical appearance of the buildings and meet the requirements for the preservation of the architectural monument. To maintain the appearance of the old facade, natural stones Jura Beige were used, as well as an emphasis on Fossil Smoke and Fossil Mélange. Jura Beige rough grinding – 6,290 m² Fossil Smoke grinding – 1,265 m² Fossil Mélange grinding – 1,190 m² The cladding slabs of 3, 4, and 5 cm for walls and columns were supplemented with fastening holes and 45-degree cuts, partially with undercuts and visible edges. The slabs for window cladding received diagonal cuts and were secured with anchors from Fischer.
