About the project
The British Embassy in Moscow is located near the State Duma of Russia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The plot of land of approximately 0.9 hectares was exchanged in 1960 for a similar one for the Soviet embassy in London. In 1997, construction of a new complex of buildings began, and on May 17, 2000, the embassy was opened by Princess Anne. For the construction of the external wall of the courtyard fence, Jura Gold marble was used to emphasize the elitism of the structure and the conciseness of the English style. It is worth noting that the wall finish is at eye level for passing Muscovites and guests of the capital and must meet all strict requirements for presentation and the timeless English severity. Jura stone has been successfully fulfilling this task for over 20 years and delights us with its unique appearance. We are also very pleased to see the sculptures of the most famous characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels – Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, made by the sculptor Andrei Orlov, who immortalized the images of beloved actors Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin.
